Did I really make the right decision?

Sometimes we wonder whether we can really make it. We think to ourselves, ‘will I really make it this time?’, ‘will I really be able to resist doing that again?’, ‘will I really be able to accomplish this?’.

I have found myself in such situations time and time again. This week I had moments where I was questioning decisions I have made and my mind kept thinking negatively and hopelessly about the future. I remember the time after I had selected what course to study in university, I was confident it was the right decision to make. However, in the middle of my studies I found myself wondering whether I made the right decision, whether I really heard God right when making my decision.

But here is the truth, many times when you make a decision that you believe in your heart and spirit to be right, the devil gets ready to whisper lies in your ears; he puts thoughts of doubt, fear and hopelessness in your mind. In fact he is very good at doing that! In my case, when I look back over the last few years, I believe I made the right decision regarding my university course! I enjoyed my time and enjoyed what I studied =) And most importantly, I see how God was with me and never left me.

Psalms 37:23 reminds us ‘the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delights in his way‘. Friend, because you have Jesus in your life He knows exactly what steps you are going to take and He knows exactly how to order them. The same Bible verse in The Voice says this:

If you are right with God, He strengthens you for the journey;
    the Eternal will be pleased with your life.

If you are right with God, that means if you acknowledge Him in every part of your life and being, and every decision you ever make in life [big or small], He strengthens you for the journey ahead. You may ask, Sandi, what if I made the wrong decision. And my answer to you is Psalm 37:24

And even though you trip up, you will not fall on your face
    because He holds you by the hand.

God will never see you falling and leave you there. He gently holds your hand, picks you up, dusts you off and helps you take the next step forward.

Be encouraged friend, ‘whatever you have, wherever you are, you can make it through anything in the One [Jesus] who makes you who you are‘ ~ Philippians 4:13 (MSG).

See Yourself Beautiful!

How do you see yourself?

When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you see a beautiful person? Or do you just see a face and a body.

Friend, no matter what you see right now, I want to remind you that you are beautiful.

In my past life I had a hard time accepting that I was truly beautiful. I wasted time comparing myself to others around me. I would think that I was too fat, and that my personality was just not right and it didn’t fit in with other people.

But after a while (after lots of praying and speaking Bible verses out loud) I learnt to love who I was. And I can confidently say that I am not the same person I was when I was a teenager. I am not 100% yet, but I am getting there. The truth is God created and handcrafted me. He designed all the intricate details about me. He loved me then and He still loves me now.

Psalm 139 is one of my favourite Bible Scriptures. Be encouraged and read it out loud as many times as you can.

If right now you don’t see yourself as the beautiful and unique creation that God handcrafted you to be, I guarantee that declaring these verses out loud will help you get there.

For You shaped me, inside and out.
    You knitted me together in my mother’s womb long before I took my first breath.
I will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe.
    You have approached even the smallest details with excellence;
    Your works are wonderful;
I carry this knowledge deep within my soul.
You see all things; nothing about me was hidden from You
As I took shape in secret,
    carefully crafted in the heart of the earth before I was born from its womb.
You see all things;
    You saw me growing, changing in my mother’s womb;
Every detail of my life was already written in Your book;
    You established the length of my life before I ever tasted the sweetness of it.
 Your thoughts and plans are treasures to me, O God! I cherish each and every one of them!
    How grand in scope! How many in number!
If I could count each one of them, they would be more than all the grains of sand on earth. Their number is inconceivable!
    Even when I wake up, I am still near to You.

Psalm 139: 14-18 (the Voice)

It has been two months since my grandfather went to be with the Lord. My granddad left a legacy for his family. His kindness and generosity is something that reminds me of God’s kindness. This week I got a chance to share my story on Wendy van Eyck’s ‘I love devotionals‘ blog.

It is my first guest post on any blog and I am so grateful to God for this opportunity.

Please check it out here: When God breathes life into a hopeless situation

Be encouraged friend!
